A cable gland is a mechanical device used to attach and secure the end of an electrical cable to equipment, providing strain relief, sealing out dust and moisture, and ensuring the cable is retained in place. Cable glands can be made of metallic materials (such as brass or stainless steel) or non-metallic materials (plastic) and are essential for maintaining the IP rating (Ingress Protection) of enclosures, as well as for providing an earth connection for armoured cables.
